Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) is a graduate professional degree which prepares students for work as a teacher in schools. In some countries like Tanzania, Kenya and various other countries, additional tasks like field work and research are required in order for the student to be fully qualified to teach.

A 4-year Bachelor of Education degree usually combines practical/pedagogical study with a Major sequence in the academic discipline of Education.

A Bachelor of Science Education is a degree awarded to students who complete the four to five-year course of study in the field of science (major and minor in biology, chemistry, physics, and math) with major Educational courses.

A Bachelor of Education (Arts) Programme is designed to prepare teachers and Educators within the teacher training prescriptions of the Ministry of Education and the Secondary School system in Kenya. The BEd programme is run on an integrated basis where the professional and academic contents are offered concurrently as determined by the country's Teacher Training Component (TTC).

In addition to Foundation Courses in Education, students will be expected to choose two other subjects that are offered in the service departments. These subjects must correspond to the curriculum offered in Secondary Schools and other equivalent institutions in Kenya’s Education system.
